Introduction to A2 Media Coursework...

The purpose of this blog is to document the seperate stages of my A2 coursework project, which will include posts dedicated to the initial research, planning, development of ideas, finished products and evaluation, as well as all of my decision making along the way. Essentially this blog is my online diary of events to display how I got from the simple outline of the brief to my final media product.

The outline for our A2 media coursework is as follows:
  • Students must complete one main and two ancillary tasks chosen from a menu of set briefs prepared by the board.

There are three briefs which we must choose one from; the first one is creating the promotion package for the release of an album, the second one is creating a promotion package for a new film, or the third one is creating a short film.  I have chosen the music video brief:

Create a promotion package for the release of an album, which must include a promotional music video, together with two of the following three options:
  1. A website homepage for the band/artist.
  2. A CD digipak for the album.
  3. A magazine advertisement for the album.
I have chosen this brief as I believe there will be much more creative freedom making a music video than making a trailer or a short film. I also know an artist who will be willing to collaborate on this project and we have already started brainstorming some ideas, so I am excited to get started!

I have had little filming experience as I have only been studying Media since Year 12, so I have only had a year of filming and editing practise. I am also working individually this year as last year I worked in a pair, which was good for guidance and discussing ideas. Despite this I still feel confident approaching this project as I believe that if you are enthusiastic, open minded and work hard then it is possible to aim high and achieve a lot.
